Secrets of Motivation

November 21, 2018

Designed for clergy and ministry professionals seeking to improve skills around motivating and raising commitment levels of those they lead (including staff and volunteers). The program will include a two-hour online training course from Dale Carnegie Institute. This interactive experience will be tailored specifically to the needs of clergy and ministry professionals and will be limited to the participants in this cohort. The learning system from Dale Carnegie includes Skill – Attitude – Knowledge – Practice – and then circles around again.  Participants will be assigned “homework” to practice what is learned through the course.

There will be two in-person meetings so that participants can contribute to each other’s learning, set goals and develop experiments, and encourage one another in ministry.  Chris Arline, a Dale Carnegie trainer will join the group for a deeper dive on Feb. 21.

Participants will learn how to:
  • assess the current environment and motivation levels
  • identify signs of restlessness and burnout
  • identify factors and tools to increase engagement
  • focus on the strengths of others to activate untapped potential
  • discover the value of appreciation
The in-person sessions will be facilitated by Rev. L. René Wilt, Director, All Good Gifts, LLC and Minister of Leadership Development, University City UMC.

René brings more than 30 years of experience in church and non-profit leadership, teaching, coaching, and facilitating.  As a leadership coach with Spiritual Leadership, Inc., René has walked alongside numerous church, community, and conference teams leading processes of leader and organizational transformation. Most recently Rene served on staff with the WNC Conference as a Church Vitality Strategist. She is a founding member of the design teams for the SALT lay academy - Spiritual Academy for Leading Transformation - as well as InnovateUMC, an initiative focused on multiplying innovative teams and ministry experiments.
