Declining congregations can increase their vitality by reaching out to young adults. Wonder how? While there’s no cookie-cutter approach, a Fuller Youth Institute study of 250 congregations identified some helpful touchstones that congregations can use to energize their ministry with this sometimes-elusive group. For example, the study found that warm relationships and involving young people in all facets of congregational life, including leadership, are more important than a particular style of worship or pastoral attire. In this book, researchers distill the study’s findings and discuss its practical implications. Six chapters are devoted to the strategies referenced in the title, weaving research-based insights with congregational stories and a hefty dose of “action ideas”. The final chapter is a guide to planning and implementing a “growing young” ministry. This resource could be helpful to any leader interested in creating a climate of welcome and engagement for young people.
