Imagining Abundance: Fundraising, Philanthropy, and a Spiritual Call to Service
by Kerry Alys RobinsonKerry Alys Robinson is the executive director of the National Leadership Roundtable on Church Management, dedicated to promoting best practices in the management of the Catholic Church in the United States. In this book, she writes positively about fundraising as ministry. Regardless of your position in the congregation, you can learn the value of passionate investment in the service that matters the most to you. In congregational life, giving doesn’t have to be something that you do only out of obligation. Enthusiasm, delight, and the inner life all contribute to the virtue of generosity. Such generosity leads to changed lives. Robinson writes, “You can be an agent of transformation. You have everything at your disposal right now to advance your organization’s mission, to raise money, to equip your ministry to be profoundly beneficial to others.” The book is written from a Roman Catholic perspective. Robinson uses her own story and the influence of those she has known to good use. Some key illustrations come from the Roman Catholic experience. Yet, Robinson’s hospitable attitude makes the book applicable to other religious worldviews. This book will be helpful to most any congregational leader wanting stories, positive words, and encouragement to shape a culture of generosity for the local congregation.
