Rev. James "Jimmy" Lawton

We have received word of the Wednesday, January 27, 2021 death of the Rev. James Gray Lawton, Sr. of Tobaccoville.  Jimmy was preceded in death by a son, David Victor Lawton.  He is survived by his wife, Naomi Stewart Lawton; four children: Jim Lawton, Mary Weaver (husband Curtis), Mark Lawton (wife Kim), and Philip Lawton; and six grandchildren: Jonathan, Hope, Sarah, Jennifer (fiancé David), Victoria, and Alyssa.  The body will lie in repose on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, 1:00-6:00pm at Salem Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 for friends to pay respects to Jimmy.  An outdoor celebration of life service will be held in the cemetery of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 8710 Meadowbrook Dr, Tobaccoville, NC 27050 on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at 2:00pm.  Masks and social distancing are requested.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Mount Pleasant UMC, Tobaccoville.
