Rev. James A. Raines

We have received word of the Wednesday, March 2, 2022 death of the Rev. James Allen Raines of Greensboro.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ina Belle Raines; and their four children: James Raines Jr., Julia Melton (Billy), Belle Strader (Tom), and the Rev. Caroline Franks; grandchildren: Hayley, Jessica (Holden), Austin, Manning, Farrelle, Raines, and Grace; grandson-in-law, Brian Lagesse (Kate); and Beth Raines, mother of Hayley and Austin.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Mary Raines; brother, Bill Raines; granddaughter, Juliana Melton Lagesse; and son-in-law, Duane Franks.  A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11:30 am at Centenary UMC, 2300 W Friendly Ave, Greensboro, NC, officiated by the Rev. Caroline Raines Franks.  Jim will be laid to rest during a family service on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 2:00 pm, at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta, GA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Reverend James A. Raines, Sr. Memorial Fund, 1852 Banking Street #9621, Greensboro, NC 27408, where the family will distribute the funds to Jimmy and Ina Belle’s favorite ministries.
