Date of Death: 8/15/2022 | Date of Birth: 5/31/1941; | ClergyWe have received word of the Monday, August 15, 2022 death of the Rev. Dr. Walter Henry McKelvey of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bettie Holmes McKelvey. He is survived by his second wife, Mrs. Loretta Felder McKelvey; two children: Angela Jenifer (Theodore) and Walter McKelvey Jr. (Wangui); four grandchildren: Victoria, Nia, Naomi, and Noelle; and two sisters, Mary Welch and Grace Gary. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Francis Burns UMC, 5616 Farrow Rd, Columbia, SC 29203, officiated by the Rev. Geneva Stafford. The service will be live-streamed at www.facebook.com/FrancisBurnsUMC. Burial will immediately follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Rd, Columbia, SC 29209. Family hour will be 11:00am-12:00pm at the church. All guests are required to wear masks indoors, and clergy are invited to robe with green stoles.
