Mrs. Evelyn G. Johnson

We have received word of the Friday, March 5, 2021 death of Mrs. Evelyn Lucille Guyton Johnson at Givens in Asheville.  She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Dr. Kenneth M. Johnson, in January.  She is survived by five children: Martha Lynn Ballard (husband Bruce), Kenneth Johnson Jr., the Rev. Robin Johnson (wife Dessie) of Yadkin Valley district, Wesley Johnson, and Christopher Johnson; four grandchildren: Becky, Lee, Sarah, and Michael; and two great-grandchildren: Nathan and Lily.  Her body will lie in the Mausoleum of Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Waynesville.  A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, beginning at 6:45 pm, at First United Methodist Church, Waynesville, NC.  The service will be live-streamed at https://www.youtube.com/FUMCWaynesville.  The service will jointly honor Ken and Evelyn, as well as their son, Kenneth Jr., who died in November of 2021.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Waynesville, PO Box 838, Waynesville, NC 28786.
