Mrs. Carolyn S. Wade

We have received word of the Thursday, February 10, 2022 death of Mrs. Edith Carolyn Bess Stewart Wade of Winston-Salem.  She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Lawrence L. Wade, Sr.; daughters and son-in-law: Artelia Johnson, Karen Williams, and Alfred Williams; and siblings: James C. Bess, Jr., Elaine Simmons, Melrose Hall, Robert B. Hall, Willie A. Bess, and Celestine Morris.  She is survived by her sons: Rodney Bess (Alice) and J. C. Stewart; a stepdaughter, Debra Smith (Earnest); a son-in-law, Johnny Johnson; 11 brothers and sisters; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  A public viewing was held Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 1-5pm at Douthit Funeral Services.  A memorial service was held on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 12:00pm at St. Andrews UMC, 1840 Butler St, Winston-Salem, followed by interment in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.  The family received friends at the church prior to the service.
