Dr. Charles E. McKinney

We have received word of the death of Dr. Charles Edwin McKinney on Thursday, August 19, 2021 in Boone.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Barbara Tugman McKinney; daughter, Marsha M. Wallace (Philip) and son, Scott Michael McKinney; granddaughters: Sarah Davis, Erin Gilmore (Andrew), and Tara Ann McKinney; grandson, Brandon Davis, Jr. (Sydney); siblings: the Rev. James 'Jim' McKinney (Linda), Alice Ross, and Virginia Parker (James); sisters-in-law, Francis McKinney and Alda McKinney; brother-in-Law, Johnnie Davis; and god-children: Hampton Boggs and Brittney Boggs.  A funeral service was held on Sunday afternoon, August 22, at 3:00pm at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Curtis Mull and Rev. James L. McKinney.  Entombment followed at the Mount Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors.  The body laid in repose at the chapel prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hopewell Community Church, c/o Sandy Davis, 5736 NC Hwy 194 N, Boone, NC 28607, or to Amorem Hospice, 902 Kirkwood St NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
