WNCCUMC Podcast Seminar with Andy Goh
October 29, 2019
Podcasting occupies a unique space in our media landscape at the moment. Once a medium purely for hobbyists, podcasting is quickly maturing into a legitimate form of mass communication, able to both tell immersive stories, and inform, educate and enlighten. Part of podcasting’s rise to prominence is the intimate and authentic nature of the form. A good host can develop a deep bond with their listeners, often making listening to a podcast feel like a one-on-one conversation with that person (despite thousands of listeners listening).
If you’re thinking about starting a podcast to better connect with your congregation or ministry colleagues, our Podcasting Seminar taught by local podcasting professional Andy Goh will help you get started on the right foot. Over the course of this two day seminar, you’ll get all the information you need to understand the medium, see how it works, and start to use it to create your own conversations.
During the first day of the seminar, Andy will present an in-depth introduction to podcasting, the current state of the industry, and why they seem to be everywhere. You’ll learn about how to set up, record and publish your own podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and everywhere podcasts are published. In the optional second morning, you will receive hands on guidance to make sure you’ve got everything you need to get started.
During the seminar, you will learn:
Why podcasting is popular
The history of podcasting
What podcasting is, and what it isn’t
Identifying and using audio recording gear
How to record an interview
How to use Audacity/GarageBand/Adobe Audition to edit your podcast
How to publish on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and wherever you find podcasts
How to market and promote your podcast
How to quantify how the podcast is doing via statistics and analytics
What you need to bring:
- Any recording gear you may already be using
- Lots of questions and a desire to learn!
