Disaster Response Update - Greensboro Tornado
April 26, 2018
Disaster Response Update - Greensboro TornadoOn April 15th, 2018 an EF2 Tornado struck the Greensboro area, killing one and causing widespread damage. Disaster Response teams from various organizations, including some from the WNCC UMC, are currently helping with disaster relief efforts in the area. Habitat for Humanity is coordinating the disaster response effort in the area. Guilford County has indicated there are still many areas with down trees and power lines. There are many homes and neighborhoods still needing assessment and assistance. The wheels of progress are turning, and work is being done. A huge thank you to all early responders, organizations, and teams from our conference who are taking the lead to bring aid to those affected.
If you are in the area and would like to help or find out ways you can help, please visit https://www.volunteergso.org or contact Ricky, our conference disaster response coordinator. Just as a reminder, please do not show up to help without letting us know of signing up on the website, as disaster response takes coordination and we want to make sure we send our resources where they can best be served.
More updates coming soon.
