Making it possible for more seniors to afford housing with supportive services
This new community is excited to announce “60 Gerber Park” – the newest affordable living solution. This phase includes 60 one-bedroom and 22 two-bedroom all-inclusive apartments. The resident’s monthly fee includes: rent, utilities (power, water, cable, phone, and internet), activities (social, recreational, spiritual, and educational), dining allowance in the café, use of all common areas and amenities, and routine maintenance.
Additional services and amenities: MAHEC Primary Care Clinic, health and wellness programs, on-site community nurse, social workers, grounds and facility maintenance. The community offers a fitness center, beauty shop, café, elevators, small community room with kitchen for gatherings and classes, large community room with fireplace and kitchen, library with computers, garden spaces, and a large screened porch with mountain views. Public transportation, grocery store, pharmacies, and shopping are all within walking distance.

Givens Life Plan Communities include Givens Estates (Asheville) and Givens Highland Farms (Black Mountain). Givens Affordable Communities are Givens Gerber Park (Asheville) and Givens Great Laurels (Lake Junaluska/Waynesville). Givens touches the lives of more than 6,000 people in Western North Carolina through Givens LifeMinistries (health and wellness ministries) and partnerships with other regional organizations.
Givens has strategically grown since inception in 1975 to meet the ever changing needs of the senior population and over the past decade Givens has made significant strides to strategically reposition its mission and ministry. The organization has grown from a single-site community (1975-2006) to three communities and outreach ministries and partnerships. The Givens Board of Directors gives oversight to all aspects of the organization. Givens priorities include expanding affordable housing, expanding outreach in the region, improving and/or renovating our communities, being good stewards of our natural resources, and acquiring, collaborating, and partnering with other communities.
