Bishop Leeland and the Cabinet announce the appointment of Rev. Dan Pezet as the Director of Church Development for the Conference beginning July 1, 2017. Pezet is currently the Director of Congregational Vitality in the Alabama-West Florida Conference and is an ordained elder in that conference.  He has served in a variety of pastoral situations, in both large and small membership churches and was involved in the planting of a new campus for Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church in Florida that served more than 2000 participants in its first year. His education includes a Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology (2009) and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida (1998). While in college, he served in an internship at Walt Disney World, where he received his “Mousters” degree. In ministry, he enjoys combining his theological education with Disney philosophies to help churches approach ministry in new and exciting ways. The Cabinet learned of Pezet’s availability after becoming aware that he was a part of search processes in other conferences. After review by the Cabinet, and meeting with conference staff leaders and the chair of the Church Vitality Team, all of whom gave approval, the offer was extended and Pezet accepted. Dan and his wife, Cindy, have two active boys, Daniel and Luke.  They will be relocating to North Carolina in June. Dan will be present at Annual Conference which will give everyone an opportunity to welcome him personally to the conference and this new position.
