Holston Conference invites you to Academy for Spiritual Formation

May 18, 2017

Wisdom for Today:  A Christian Celtic Perspective Holston Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and Upper Room Ministries will sponsor an Upper Room Five-Day Academy for Spiritual Formation® at Emory & Henry College (Emory, Virginia, near Bristol, Tennessee) July 30-August 4, 2017. Each Academy offers a life-giving experience of learning, worship, community, and refreshment. Academies are open to both laity and clergy. Dr. Loyd Allen and Rev. Mary Earle will serve as faculty. Allen will make Celtic Christian history relevant for today, and Earle will serve as an experienced guide to Celtic prayer. Celtic spirituality focuses on communion with God; a love for learning; time as a sacred reality; ordinary routines with God at the center; and compassionate ears and challenging words. Worship themes include hospitality, presence, pilgrimage, listen, rooted, and wholeness.
