New Conference Treasurer Announced

Mark King AnnouncementThe Conference Council on Finance and Administration, in conjunction with Bishop Goodpaster, is pleased to announce the intended appointment of Reverend Doctor R. Mark King as the Conference Treasurer/Director of Administrative Services. Mark brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Office of Treasury Services. He is currently the Executive Minister at Marble Collegiate Church of New York City. He served most recently in the Western North Carolina Conference as the Executive Minister at Centenary UMC in Winston-Salem and previously at University City and St. Stephen UMCs. In his twenty-seven years of ministry experience, Mark has served as a pastor-in-charge and in administrative pastor positions. He has a pastor’s heart and an understanding of the administrative ministry of the church. Mark has a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Doctor of Ministry from Candler School of Theology, a Master of Business Administration from Pfeiffer University, and a Master of Accountancy from UNC- Charlotte. He is a Certified Church Business Administrator, a Certified Facility Manager, and is certified in church and school risk management. As Conference Treasurer/Director of Administrative Services, Mark will be responsible for the overall financial management of the conference’s funds, supervising the Treasury Services staff, maintaining the conference’s statistical database, working with the Conference Board of Trustees to maintain the conference’s property, serving as the Conference Pension Officer for the General Board of Pensions, working the Conference Board of Pensions and Health Benefits to maintain our pension and health benefit plans, and serving as a resource to local churches on matters related to finances and benefits. Mark will be presented at Annual Conference for election as Conference Treasurer/Director of Administrative Services, in accordance with ¶619 of The 2012 Book of Discipline. We look forward to welcoming him to the conference staff and to the anticipated start of his ministry in this new role on July 18, 2016.
