Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration set for Jan. 14, 2017

[caption id="attachment_7907" align="alignright" width="350"]mlk-event-2017 Click to download this bulletin insert[/caption] The WNCC-Justice & Reconciliation Team, in partnership with the WNC-Black Methodists for Church Renewal (BMCR) and the WNCC-Commission on Religion and Race (CORR ) announce that the conference Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration is scheduled for January 14, 2017 at St. Luke's UMC in Hickory, NC, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., with doors opening at 9:00 a.m. This year's theme is "Confronting Chaos: Creating The Beloved Community" with keynote speaker, Dr. F. Willis Johnson, Wellspring Church of Ferguson, MO. Bishop Paul Leeland invites all of the clergy and laity of Western North Carolina to join in the celebration that will include fellowship, worship, communion, music, small group dialogues, youth session and essays, action steps and follow-up about how we can take up Dr. King’s call to transform the world around us. Reservations are appreciated by Tuesday, January 10. Donations will be collected at the door to defray the cost of lunch.
