The Great 50 Days Testimonies
|
"We are in the season now of Easter. We have transitioned from a 40 day season of fasting (Lent) to a 50 day season of feasting (Easter).
The church calls this the 'Great 50 Days', in celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and in anticipation of our mission given to us on Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit is poured out on all flesh.
I invite us to observe the Great 50 Days in two ways.
First, each day there will be shared testimony through our social media about how the power of the Resurrection and the Holy Spirit is present in our lives and in our churches and ministries. I hope you will watch for these testimonies, share them, encourage one another, and praise God for them.
And second, I invite you to read, reflect on and pray these words every day between Easter and Pentecost (The Great 50 Days)..."

An Update on Project AGAPE
|
WNCC and Project AGAPE will NOT have a Spring 2023 collection of donations usually collected during the month of April. International shipping issues created by the pandemic are still plaguing the industry resulting in shipping backlogs. Due to these backlogs, 3 to 4 containers of donations are still being stored at the Mission Response Center in Terrell.
We ask that individuals and churches hold on to your donations until September 2023, when we hope to reinstate donations in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of our ministry with Project AGAPE. Thank you for your understanding and please keep our Christian brothers and sisters in Armenia in your prayers.

Is The UMC Really...? Series
|
With some congregations considering leaving The United Methodist Church or just wondering about its future, Ask The UMC offers a series of questions and answers to help clear up some common misperceptions or misinformation around disaffiliation.
This is part 9: Future of Paragraph 2553, clergy appointment information, and an explanation of the disaffiliation process in two conferences.
We discuss the future of Paragraph 2553 after its expiration at the end of 2023, two conferences where disaffiliation is no longer possible under Paragraph 2553, and whether non-disaffiliating clergy currently appointed to churches that disaffiliate will be immediately appointed elsewhere upon the church's disaffiliation.
Questions answered in this article:
Is The UMC Really....?
1. Going to extend the life of Paragraph 2553 at the next General Conference?
2. Prohibiting congregations from disaffiliating under Paragraph 2553?
3. Going to appoint non-disaffiliating clergy elsewhere should the congregation(s) they serve disaffiliate?
