Connect with them on their channels: WEBSITE, FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, & YOUTUBE.
#BeUMC honors the core values that connect the people of The United Methodist Church. No matter the challenges we face, God is with us, and we continue to have opportunities to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world! The campaign calls us to embrace our Wesleyan heritage and envision a promising future. New Online Learning Training for Lighthouse Congregations
|
Lighthouse Congregations are a part of the UM Collective Movement in the Western NC Conference. These congregations are particularly equipped to welcome anyone whose church has closed or disaffiliated. If you find yourself in these circumstances, we first want you to know that we see you. We love you. And we will help guide you. A Lighthouse Congregation is a United Methodist faith community that will serve as a resting place with people who will care for you while providing a haven of peace and grace. Whether you are an individual or a group of people who have become displaced or churchless because of closing or disaffiliation, Lighthouse Congregations will be there for you during this difficult time.
If your church has affirmed their desire to remain United Methodist, and would like to be equipped to serve as a Lighthouse Congregation for those who also wish to remain United Methodist in your community: The Resource Center has converted the equipping training to an "On-Demand" process through the online learning platform! Please note that taking this course is required to become a Lighthouse Congregation.

Is The UMC Really...? Series
|
With some congregations considering leaving The United Methodist Church or just wondering about its future, Ask The UMC offers a series of questions and answers to help clear up some common misperceptions or misinformation around disaffiliation.
This is part 8: Explaining Paragraph 2553
This is the eighth of a series of articles offering factual responses to questions we continue to receive at Ask The UMC. This article addresses the disaffiliation process in central conferences and “extended” or “alternative” disaffiliation policies beyond 2023 in four annual conferences in the United States.
Questions answered in this article:
Is The UMC Really....?
1. Saying that paragraph 2553 does not apply in the central conferences?
2. Providing for a "disaffiliation bridge" between the end of 2023, when paragraph 2553 expires, until whatever process the 2024 General Conference may approve becomes effective?
