Are You Interested in Becoming a UMC Commissioned EarthKeeper?

February 8, 2022

Are you passionate about caring for God’s creation? Did you know that there is a program through The UMC’s General Board of Global Ministries for commissioning clergy and lay people as EarthKeepers who are committed to caring for God’s creation?
Presently, there are seven commissioned EarthKeepers in the WNCC, working towards engaging their churches, their communities, and other churches in the WNCC in acts of renewal of, and care for, God’s creation. There is room for many, many more!
In that regard, there are two upcoming training opportunities available online if you are interested in joining these efforts in the WNCC! The start dates for the two training sessions are March 18th and July 18th, with the deadline to apply for the March 18th training coming up soon on March 1st.
The training program equips US-based United Methodists to launch and grow environmental projects in their communities. Topics covered during the training include eco-theology, anti-racism, community organizing, and project planning, and all participants plan a project related to these topics during the training.
For more information, and to apply to attend the training, visit If you have questions or would like to talk with one of the WNCC EarthKeepers, they are available by emailing
