Early on March 3, tornadoes ripped across parts of Tennessee. One tornado, which reportedly cut a 10-mile path through downtown Nashville and into its eastern suburbs, caused significant damage in the neighborhoods of Germantown and East Nashville and the suburb of Hermitage. Putnam County, about 80 miles from Nashville, was also severely affected.

The TNUMC Disaster Response team is working with clergy, district superintendents and Bishop McAlilly to assess damages. In addition to the loss of lives and property, we know there are churches that are severely damaged; Dodson Chapel UMC, Braden Memorial UMC, and East End UMC. The TNUMC are continuing to make assessments. 

PLEASE DO NOT SELF-DEPLOY. Volunteers (ERTs or otherwise) should never respond or deploy without the proper invitation. The United Methodist Church will be present in the relief, but our work now must focus on enabling local authorities and institutions with financial and prayerful support. We will update this site when affected areas are ready for volunteers.
