October Cabinet Recap: Celebrating Ministry in Western North Carolina

November 7, 2018

The Cabinet met on October 24-25, continuing to affirm the vision that all congregations in our conference can be inviting and serving and focusing on how we are putting feet on that vision.

The Bishop’s Emerging Leader Initiative is equipping faithful leaders and fruitful congregations. Fresh Expressions continue to move forward, with momentum with almost 50 churches receiving grants and training. We’re focused on providing more opportunities for training in congregational development through the Transformation Journey. There is continued alignment around lay servant ministries across our conference.  We also reviewed apportionment reports and gave thanks for churches being faithful to missional giving beyond the local church

The Cabinet also gave special thanks for the continued effort to provide resourcing to our local churches, with gratitude for our ministry partners Duke Divinity School and the Duke Endowment and the clergy serving in our rural churches.

The Foundation’s David Snipes began our time together with a celebration of Holy Communion and reminded us to focus on the celebration. This lasted throughout our time together as we celebrated all that God is doing in and through the United Methodist Church in Western North Carolina.
