Licensed Electrician Volunteers Needed for Disaster Response Efforts in Western NC

September 29, 2021

In August, Tropical Storm Fred hit the Western NC mountain communities around the Cruso and Canton areas in Haywood County. This area received over 16 inches of rain within 24 hours that caused a devastating rock slide and mountain flooding, impacting over 800 homes.

The Western NC Conference began to respond to the areas affected and worked with NC Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NC VOAD) groups. Early Response Teams (ERTs) helped to muck out homes and remove debris.

As the early response phase comes to a close, the Western NC Conference is now assisting with the long-term recovery phase.

Here is how you can help:

Volunteer
Volunteers with any level of construction experience, especially licensed electricians, are needed to help with Emergency Rapid Repair and make homes habitable for families to return home before winter. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the WNNC Conference Disaster Response Coordinator, Ben Rogers at brogers@wnccumc.org.

Giving
