ERT UPDATE: February 18 Ice Storm
ERT’s, As we get ready for the potential for significant ice overnight be sure to prepare in case you are called on to assist. Communicate with your ERT Team leader to discuss your availability to respond and fill out this form (https://forms.gle/LnrrEUeGYGzv3A6L6) to be on our response short list. If you do not have a team but are able to respond, please fill out the form as well. Following the storm, remember that response begins with your neighbors. If you are in an area with needs greater than your ability, communicate with your District Coordinator or your DS.
Ready:

Park a car on the street if you have a steep driveway in case of emergency

Charge electronics and have flashlights/candles ready in case of power outages

Have water available in case of boil advisory

Check any equipment you have that could aid in a response to make sure it is accessible

Familiarize yourself with local emergency management

Familiarize yourself with the UMCOR ERT Deployment Flowchart
Assess:

Make sure you are safe
-
Check on those around you
-
Asses safety of affected areas, are there downed trees or compromised power lines?

If there are downed power lines or trees causing safety concerns, call local emergency services.
Respond:
-
When responding to the needs of the community, follow any guidance by local emergency management

Follow all COVID safety protocols (https://www.wnccumc.org/files/websites/www/COR+Response-+COVID+Final.pdf)

Report any work done to your DS and our CDRC
