Mission Engagement Team Launches New Site

December 31, 2014

explore700aFrom the first meeting of the Mission Engagement Team, the greatest need identified was communication. There is no doubt that there is a lot happening across the conference as churches explore new ways to build relationships with those in our communities and meet needs in new and creative ways and the words needs to get out! Thus a vision for a new missions website was born out of an idea for a mission crowd-sourcing site that would do more than provide information, but would be interactive, empowering leaders to be proactive in getting word out about projects and soliciting for support. The main features of the site are the three buttons at the top of the homepage (mission.wnccumc.org):

Start- This will allow users to search the database of missions using various filters. We hope this feature will connect users with projects they are passionate about and explore opportunities in which they might get involved. There is also the option of donating to a mission, if applicable.

Impact- This feature is for users who wish to submit a mission to the posted to the site, whether it is an on-going mission, a mission trip both local and international, or a one-day, one-time project open to anybody.

Inspire- This button will take you to a page where you will have the option of submitting a story or reading the stories listed. We hope to hear stories of transformation and best practices. Stories can inspire, encourage, and ignite in others new ideas for their context so we’re especially excited to have this piece on the page!

Projects and stories will be screened before going public to keep the site secure and safe. The site also still holds the information you need for all conference-sponsored mission organizations like Building Teams, Project Agape, Disaster Response, and more.

We hope you will play around on the site, and explore and engage with its features by posting projects happening in or around your community and sharing your stories! This is how we embrace and utilize our connection as we all work towards the same goal to “Make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World.”
