Dr. Thomas G. Long - Lecture Sessions at Hawthorne Lane UMC

LongDr. Thomas G. Long will be at  Hawthorne Lane UMC on February 28 & 29, 2016. Thomas G. Long, Bandy Professor of Preaching, Emeritus, at Candler School of Theology, will preach twice at Hawthorne Lane UMC, 501 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC, on Sunday, February 28. The service times are 11 and 6. On Monday, February 29, Dr. Long will lecture at 10 (registration, meet and greet at 9:15), and do a Q/A. Lunch will be served, with reservations and prepayment required (details to follow). All members of the Metro District and WNCC are invited to attend any or all of the sessions.

  • Sunday Morning — Luke 16:19-31 — “A Great Chasm” (this is the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus)
  • Sunday Evening — John 11:1-21 — “Telling Time” (this is the story of the raising of the “other” Lazarus)
  • Monday Talk — “Stories, Screens, Holograms, and Tweets: A Guide for Listeners to the Changing Fashions in Sermons”
