WNCC Delegation Prepares for General Conference

Delegates from the Western North Carolina Conference to the 2016 General Conference met on Saturday, April 9 at First United Methodist Church in Gastonia.
This was the final meeting of the group prior to the May 10-20 meeting in Portland.
Our delegation of 10 lay and 10 clergy will meet with the 864 delegates from across the world for 10 days for worship, business and discernment for the denomination.

At the meeting on Saturday, they heard reports from Hank Dozier, a lay delegate from Charlotte, who spoke about legislation affecting United Methodist Men.
Lynn Gilbert, a lay delegate from Greensboro, reported about legislation that was being brought forward by United Methodist Women.
The delegation also heard from Dr. James Howell, pastor of Myers Park UMC in Charlotte, who is the conference nominee for bishop at the Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference in July.

Prior to adjournment, the delegation spent time discussing logistics, travel hints and reminders, and basic preparation for the meeting.
The delegation continues to seek the prayers and support of the Western North Carolina Conference as it prepares to represent the conference in Portland.
