DeEtta Rivens Joining Episcopal Office
September 16, 2015
Bishop Larry Goodpaster announced this morning that DeEtta Rivens will be joining the Episcopal Office, filling the role of Executive Administrative Assistant, effective November 2.
Ms. Rivens has over sixteen years of experience with the Western North Carolina Conference, serving as the administrative assistant in the Metro District office (and prior to that the Charlotte District office). Her experience, skills, and knowledge of the doctrine, polity, and structure of The United Methodist Church will serve her well in this new role.
In 2001, she received certification as a Professional United Methodist Church Secretary (PAUMCS), and she continues to meet the requirements to maintain this designation. She is active in the local WNC chapter of PAUMCS, serving as its secretary, and maintaining her membership in the national chapter as well.
Ms. Rivens will begin her transition on October 12, spending several weeks training with Jane Suther, and will assume the position full-time effective November 2, following Jane’s retirement.
Bishop Goodpaster commented, “I ask that you join us in welcoming DeEtta to this new role, and wishing her well in her next years of service in the Bishop’s Office of the Western North Carolina Conference.”
