Caroline Wood Assumes Interim Role as Director of Mission Pathways
August 20, 2015
Following the Rev. Jaylynn Byassee’s move to Vancouver, British Columbia, with her family, Caroline Wood’s position of Associate Director of Discipleship Ministry is being reconfigured to include serving as the Interim Director of Mission Pathways.
In this new role, she will work to strengthen and expand lay ministry, missional partnerships, and the intentional outreach of the local churches of the conference.
Her specific responsibilities include resourcing, relating to, and working closely with the Conference Mission Engagement Team; continuing as the primary contact and Director for the C4C (Congregation 4 Children) initiative; as well as serving as the staff liaison for Disaster Response (including Early Response Training or ERT), WNC Building Teams, Project Agape, the Congo Ministry, and other existing partnerships. Further, Wood will assume the position of Conference Mission Secretary for connections with the General Board of Global Ministries and the SEJ UMVIM Office.
Wood brings 20 years’ experience coaching missionaries in ministry and fundraising with Global Teams, a missionary sending agency with roots in the Episcopal Church. She has worked with the Western North Carolina Conference for 7 years, first as Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries and most recently as the Associate Director of Discipleship Ministry.
“Already, Caroline is building relationships with conference mission partners and resourcing missional networks in church-school partnerships and other outreach endeavors. Her tenure on the Conference Staff is enabling her to transition into this new role quickly and effectively. We appreciate her passion for expanding our ministry with others, locally and globally, in exciting new and creative ways,” according to Amy Coles, Assistant to Bishop Goodpaster.
