The Potter’s Touch Focuses on Spiritual Direction
May 21, 2015
The Potter's Touch Board recently made a transition in the services offered to churches in the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountain Districts. Potter's Touch is now a Network of Spiritual Directors. The objective is to encourage and support clergy and laity in the tending of their spiritual lives in order to become more effective as leaders.
Clergy and laity are encouraged to consider the ancient practice of Spiritual Direction—reflecting on one’s life of prayer, one’s longing for God, and speaking of it to another person of faith in a sacred space. Spiritual direction is not counseling or therapy. It is the practice of holy conversation and listening in order to discern God’s presence and leading in one’s life. Having a spiritual director helps one to listen more faithfully, discern more carefully, and respond more freely to the invitation of God in all aspects of daily life.
The Potter’s Touch Board recently added additional providers of spiritual direction in order to give options for selecting individual and/or group spiritual direction.
The Potter’s Touch web-site offers provider information detailing services offered as well as biographical and contact information. For those with financial need, stipends are available to help defray the cost of individual or group spiritual direction. To learn more go to www.potterstouch.net
The Board is excited about this shift in services and trusts that as clergy and laity focus on God’s leading in their lives, they will be strengthened in following Jesus, making disciples, and transforming lives and communities.
