Kathy Odell to Become Director of Human Resources

Greetings one and all! This message comes to you with information that was shared with the staff of our Conference Memorial Building today at lunch. For at least the last two years our Conference Staff Relations Committee has been moving us and urging us to employ a Director of Human Resources for the Annual Conference. With more than 40 employees, and with compliance regulations and reports becoming more numerous, CSRC has seen the need for a person to guide and manage this for us. Bud Wrenn, the consultant who is helping conference staff and the cabinet lead more effectively also saw the need and confirmed that direction for the conference. We are announcing today that on March 16, Kathy Odell will become our new Director of Human Resources for the Conference. Kathy currently holds the same position at Pfeiffer University and is excited about her move to work with all of you to guide and manage services, policies and programs for the conference. Her work with us will include designing and implementing systems for performance management and improvement, policy development and documentation in accordance with our personnel handbook, and employment and compliance to regulatory concerns, along with many other responsibilities related to our work and life together. Kathy is a member of the Pine Grove UMC in Albemarle. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources, and comes to us with more than 25 years of experience in the field. In conversation and planning with CSRC and with Bud Wrenn, we believe that this is a positive step forward for us, and we look forward to Kathy’s presence and work among us. Bishop Larry Goodpaster
