River of Life Trip to Haiti
January 22, 2015
Rev. "Wayner" Dickert, pastor of Bryson City UMC and the River of Life Ministry in Bryson City, NC, along with Trey and Cricket Barnett traveled to Haiti January 16-26, 2015 to assist with drilling new wells and seeking new locations for wells.
This ministry of providing clean water in Haiti has been a special project of the River of Life Congregation that meets every Sunday from Memorial Day Weekedn through September on the banks of the Nantahala River near the Nanatahala Outdoor Center.
Here are some of the entries in their journal from the trip (you can follow the entire trip at the website: www.nantahalariveroflife.org):
Day 1
This is a short video of our trip to visit Dr. Eugene in Cap Haitian, Haiti and see some of the River of Life wells and the new Health Clinic/Hospital for which we are providing water resources. After picking us up at the airport, Dr. Eugene took us to lunch at the L’Augerge Le Picolet. There we met the crew Wayner traveled to Haiti with during his last trip to Haiti. The crew includes Pam Carter who helped connect the River of Life with Dr. Eugene and sponsoring wells in Haiti. Without this connection, it is likely that the River of Life would never have been able to sponsor any community wells but now we have been able to fund 15 community wells in Haiti. It is a relationship that blesses us as much as it blesses the people of Haiti. Thank you all who have helped make it happen!

Day 3
This is a video from our third day in Haiti. We were blessed to watch the installation of a well in the town of Dhericourt (pronounced Deri-cou) which serves three communities. The company doing the drilling is the same one that Dr. Eugene has used on several occasions to drill River of Life wells. So far, they have never had a well do dry. That is a good record.
