2020 SEJ Conference Postponed
April 7, 2020
Greetings, Delegates and Alternates to the SEJ Conference:
Grace and peace to each of you in this most unusual of Holy Weeks for all of us.
As some of you may have heard by this time, the decision has been made to postpone all 2020 U.S. Jurisdictional Conferences scheduled for July. According to our Book of Discipline, all Jurisdictional Conferences occur simultaneously on a date set by the Council of Bishops. As soon as the dates for the rescheduled General Conference are released, the Council of Bishops will set a new date for the opening of the Jurisdictional Conferences.
We had hoped very much to know these dates before now so that all of us can move forward to shift our plans. Please watch for a press release with the new dates for General Conference, which we hope will be forthcoming very soon.
I have worked with Lake Junaluska to let them know that we are pausing our planning for the immediate future. We were in the midst of our housing lottery when the Covid-19 virus changed our work. As soon as we know the rescheduled dates, I will give you information related to our arrangements with Lake Junaluska, as well as other information about how we will proceed with our planning.
Now is a very important time for all of us to stay well, stay healthy, and stay in vital ministry with those in our local churches, our Conferences, and our world. May God be with us all as we move toward the day we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace and peace,
Anne Travis
