Annual Conference News

The Western NC Conference is excited to welcome this year's Annual Conference guest preachers, Rev. Dr. Edgardo Colón-Emeric, dean of Duke Divinity School, and Rev. Dawn M. Hand, superintendent of the Central Maryland district in the Baltimore-Washington Conference and WNCC clergy. Learn more about this year's guest preachers here.

The 2022 Annual Conference Schedule and Special Events are available online. This year the Board of Ordained Ministry is hosting a carnival event to honor all commissioned and ordained clergy and local pastors from the classes of 2020, 2021, and 2022 with a “hats off” portion and a “Clergy Celebration” carnival on the lawn area at the Labyrinth. This extended clergy celebration sets a space for all clergy to gather, celebrate our new clergy colleagues, enjoy the snacks and festivities, and embrace the gift of in-person fellowship with one another. Find the full schedule and information on all the special events happening at Annual Conference here.

Lake Junaluska is processing advanced meal requests. Instead of calling each guest, they will be charging the credit card on file for the meals ordered. You will see this charge on your bank statement in the next 5-10 days. Meal tickets will be given out during lodging check-in at the Bethea Welcome Center. Please do not call reservations to check the status of your request. Thank you for your patience!

"Almighty God, our prayers rise like incense. When we cry out to you, the Psalms teach us, you answer. The massacres of the innocent, in Buffalo, in Laguna Woods, in Uvalde are known to you. Our schools, our churches, our supermarkets are pierced by violence, racism and hatred. We sit now in the darkness of yet another grief, and we cannot be complacent."

For this reason, the General Commission on Religion and Race invites you to participate in the Racial Justice Prayer & Action Challenge. Beginning on Juneteenth (Sunday June 19, 2022) we will post daily prayers on social media for six weeks. We’ll also include weekly challenges to help you put your prayers into action.
