Experiencing Fresh Expressions in A Rural Context

April 26, 2022

Is your church looking to connect with new people in your community? On May 14th and 15th we have two opportunities to learn about and experience fresh expressions with a focus on the rural context. Saturday’s event will be in Albermarle and Sunday’s event will be in Boone. Clergy and laity from across the conference are invited to join!

On May 14th the Uwharrie District is hosting Spring into Fresh Expressions which will feature guest speaker, Allen Stanton, speaking on the unique setting of rural areas. The day will also include a brainstorming activity to engage participants in thinking outside the box, lunch, and live Fresh Expressions demonstrations to inspire and inform participants as they begin to dream of the possibilities of starting Fresh Expressions in their own contexts. This will all take place in a beautiful farm setting at the Lodge at Hatley Farm just outside Albemarle, NC at 28338 Hatley Farm Rd., Albemarle, NC. Register here.

On May 15th, at Boone UMC, the Appalachian District will be sponsoring an afternoon of Fresh Expressions of Church with Rev. Allen Stanton, joining as well.
We will begin at 3:00-4:00 with conversation with Allen then move to various locations for opportunities to explore Fresh Expressions (FX) of Church. The FX experiences will end around 5:30. Register here.

Allen Stanton is the executive director of the Turner Center at Martin Methodist College, which leads rural congregations in cultivating community and economic development in southern Middle Tennessee. Allen previously served a small-membership church in North Carolina, and holds degrees from Wake Forest University and Duke Divinity School.
