United Methodist Churches in the Western NC Conference are encouraged to participate in a Special Sunday Offering on December 19th to support relief efforts following the destruction caused by the tornado outbreaks during the weekend of December 11, 2021.
The damage from these storms has been extensive and United Methodist Churches in these areas are already responding to the many needs of their communities as search and rescue continues and recovery efforts will soon begin.
One of our greatest assets and privileges as United Methodists is to know we are not alone in our ministries but are part of a greater connection. While conferences in the hardest-hit areas will work directly with UMCOR and established relief agencies like FEMA and the Red Cross, conferences in other states are raising funds to support these efforts.
Funds collected through this weekend's special offering will be presented as a gift from the Western North Carolina Conference to the affected conferences in the Southeastern Jurisdiction to aid the disaster response endeavors in their communities. It is our prayer that those impacted by these catastrophic storms will be blessed by the generosity, prayers, and support of our connection through the Western North Carolina Conference.
Individuals are encouraged to donate to this special offering through their churches.
Churches, donations collected for this Special Sunday Offering can be submitted online OR if you prefer to pay by check, make checks payable to WNCC Treasurer, note "Special Offering: Tornado Relief" in the memo line, and mail to:
