WNCC Churches Can Help COVID-19 First Responders Now

April 7, 2020

By: Karen Easter Bayne

The Western NC Conference of the UMC is working with Wesley Community Development and state health officials to determine which churches can provide immediate assistance to their local healthcare providers in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.  Some communities need places to hold blood drives, offer OTC medicine giveaways, provide child care for healthcare professionals who are working overtime to treat patients, provide food to hungry neighbors, or even offer shelter for homeless persons or open land to set up a testing site or other needed care.  We are trying to collect this information and pass it on to the appropriate healthcare organizations quickly, as critical needs change daily.  If your church is already providing any of these ministries for the COVID-19 fight or could offer space for one or more, please complete this brief survey  by Friday, April 17, and return it to Rev. Karen Easter Bayne at karen@wesleycdc.com.  Thank you for responding to the needs of your communities so quickly and with compassion.
