Western NC Gleaning Coordinator

Want to get outside, serve your neighbor, and spend time with great people?  The Society of St. Andrew is hiring a part-time Gleaning Coordinator for Western North Carolina, serving the westernmost counties in NC with most of our work centered around Asheville and Hendersonville.  As our Gleaning Coordinator, you will:

- Talk to local farmers to set up gleaning events to collect their extra produce left in the fields or what they cannot sell
- Coordinate with volunteers to glean produce and distribute it to local hunger-relief organizations
- Build relationships with farmers new to our program
- Recruit volunteers and volunteer groups to glean
- Get to know local food pantries, soup kitchens and other hunger relief agencies to know how we can best support them

The position is flexible on time and some weeks are busier than others. This role is supported by staff in Charlotte and Durham, and is remote. This is a 12-month position and averages 15 hours a week and starts at $15/hour.  All travel is reimbursed and a cell phone is provided.
