Coordinator of Children and Family Ministries  
Position Description
The Coordinator of Children and Family Ministries will work with others to plan and carry out a comprehensive program for children that includes worship, study, fellowship, and service experiences for children, ages birth through 5th grade, and their parents. The Coordinator will have a deep commitment to faith formation of children and will advocate that all children are welcome and expected to be fully engaged in the ministries of the church. 
Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, early childhood education preferred and/or five years’ experience in teaching. 
Essential Functions: 
  • Plan and coordinate educational programs that nurture the faith development of children from infancy through fifth grade, including but not limited to Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. 
  • Direct and oversee the care and protection of all children during church programs and events. This includes childcare for Sunday morning as well as for other meetings and events on and off campus. 
  • Coordinate the participation of children in leadership during worship.
  • Build and support effective volunteer teams. 
  • Hire and coordinate paid childcare staff. 
  • Serve as staff liaison to the lay committees and outside organizations that serve children and families. 
  • Communicate effectively through email, phone, regular mail, and meetings to convey a clear understanding of program vision and direction. 
  • Implement and supervise a dynamic ministry of fellowship for families.
  • Understand age-appropriate methods of education and spiritual formation.
  • Recruit and mentor effective Sunday School teachers. 
  • Lead children of all ages to articulate biblical and theological values, and to trust and express Christ’s love for them and for the world.
 
Effective: 06/05/23 
Supervises: Paid Child Care Staff 
Pay range: $15-22 per hour
Expected time commitment: 10 hours a week, including Sundays 9am-1pm
This position reports to the Pastor and is a part-time staff position.
