Assurance United Methodist Church in Huntersville, North Carolina is seeking a part-time Director of Youth Ministry and is seeking an energetic person with a passion for youth discipleship and connecting with the community. This position will be working with middle school and high school students. At least three years experience in working with youth of this age range is required. Familiarity with the United Methodist Church and its theology and practice is necessary. Applicants should be a team player, comfortable working in a staff environment and with volunteers. Job Description: Lead ministry of youth, between grades 6 and 12, to further grow as Disciples of Jesus Christ so they can go serve Christ in the world.

Hours: Average 30/week (part-time)

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and drive Bible Study gatherings for Middle school, High school and whole group gatherings
Oversight and implementation of Teen Pilgrimage (confirmation)
Develop, lead and organization of Special events for youth
Recruit, develop, lead and leverage youth-age leaders and adult-age youth leaders/volunteer servants
Planning of year round youth activities
Communication of events and with youth/parents/volunteers/others as needed
As needed with creation and delivery of curriculum
Work with the KidMin director to provide summer opportunities to help transition rising sixth graders
Champion of Safe Sanctuary
Provide CORE leadership presence before/during/after worship as much as possible
Participation in weekly staff meetings. (Tuesday mornings)

Required Qualifications

3 years of leading a Youth program
Strong organizational skills
Excellent communicator across multiple channels (social media, text, phone, email, internal church methods) and age groups (youth and adults)
Creative and strategic thinker
Ability to connect and inspire youth
