Yadkinville United Methodist Church is seeking a dynamic and passionate Director of Traditional Music to lead our music ministry as we worship, experiment, and prayerfully grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Yadkinville United Methodist Church is a warm and loving congregation open to all people.

As the Director of Traditional Music, you’ll be responsible for leading our choir, selecting music for the traditional service, participating in the planning of Sunday worship and other special services through out the year. We know that one of the ways people connect to God through worship is the music, and we are looking for someone who can help the congregation grow in understanding the Christian faith through music and music’s role in the faith, develop and strengthen their relationship with God, and become better equipped for daily living as faithful Christian disciples.

While this posting is for a Director of Traditional Music, we would be open to the possibility of expanding the position to include contemporary/modern music in order to restart a Contemporary Service of worship paused by the pandemic.

Skills and Qualifications: The Director of Music must be Christ centered. This individual must have a deep love of music and its purpose in the faith. Has the ability to take direction and work as a team member as well as work with a variety of people. Has prior experience in church worship, familiarity with Methodist hymns and other worship music. Has knowledge of instruments and oversight for the care of the church musical equipment. Knowledge of basic music theory and ability to perform simple transpositions or re-harmonization. Must communicate well and in a Christian manner with the Pastor, Leadership Team, church choir and congregation.

Duties and Responsibilities
Select, plan, and lead music preludes, postludes, hymns, anthems, and offertories for Sunday Worship, both choir and congregation
Lead choir and special ensembles with rehearsals.
Participate with the planning of Sunday service and special services including, but not limited to Christmas and Easter with the Pastor, accompanist and worship team.
Recruit, equip, motivate, supervise and shepherd choir and musicians.
Maintain a strong prayer base for the music ministry.
Communicate faithfully with the Pastor, staff, accompanist and Leadership Team.
Participates in the life and ministry of the church.
Sufficiently rehearses to maintain a high quality of music.

Part time 6-8 hours per week.

PTO based on years of service starting at 2 weeks
Compensation based on experience- starting at $19 an hour
