The Children’s Center at Mulberry (Macon, GA)

The Children’s Center at Mulberry (CCM) seeks a full-8me, state-qualified Director who will provide leadership to our non-profit organiza8on and guide our child care programs consistent with the philosophy and policies outlined in CCM’s Opera8ng Agreement and within budgetary constraints.

The Director reports directly to the CCM Board of Managers and works closely with the Board in all aspects of the organiza8on's management, fundraising, marke8ng, finances, programming, strategic planning, and organiza8onal development.

Responsibili=es:

Under general supervision, the Director operates the Center to conform with ins8tu8onal regula8ons, state child care licensing provisions, and accredita8on expecta8ons. Responsibili8es chiefly include the overall management of the Center, including the following du8es:

  • Promote a safe, nurturing, healthy, posi8ve, and caring environment focusing on the children’s social, emo8onal, physical, cogni8ve, and spiritual development

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local government requirements for the facility’s opera8ons and standards for sa8sfac8on of accredita8on requirements

  • Foster parental rapport and keep parents informed of center ac8vi8es

  • Revise and update policies and procedures for staff and parents

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and retain quality staff and support their professional development

  • Plan, develop, schedule, and/or provide in-service training and staff evalua8ons

  • Develop and order all necessary child care curriculum, supplies, and equipment

  • Maintain administra8ve and business reports and records and oversee the prepara8on thereof, including

    records of fees, payments, and late charges, and collect delinquencies

  • Market the facility to the community and engage in wri8ng, public speaking, and mee8ngs as necessary

    to do so

  • Manage for op8mal use building facili8es, including but not limited to inspec8ons, permiTng, code

    compliance, capital projects, maintenance, and repairs

  • Foster and cul8vate partnerships with other organiza8ons

  • Maintain accurate records on children to include development, aVendance, immuniza8on, and general

    health and accurate wai8ng lists for admission

  • Ability to work with frequent interrup8ons and changing priori8es

  • Computer proficiency with MicrosoY Office, 8mekeeping, payroll, and newsleVer design programs and

    with social media

    Educa=on & Experience:

  • Minimum of 25 years of age

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood educa8on, child development, or related field (preferred)

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a licensed child care facility with at least one (1) year in a

    management role

  • Must sa8sfy criminal background check

  • Complete TB skin test and COVID vaccina8ons and be free from contagious diseases

  • Ability to liY up to sixty (60) pounds

    Specialized Training & Licensing:

  • Minimum of a licensed child care director’s creden8als issued by a professional or educa8on ins8tu8on

  • Must have current Adult, Infant, and Child CPR and First Aid cer8fica8ons

  • Must par8cipate in an 8-hour orienta8on, including training on internal financial maVers, Board

    governance model, and CCM’s rela8onship with Mulberry Street United Methodist Church

  • Minimum of twenty-four (24) hours of training annually (to be approved in advance by Board): six (6)

    hours in the areas of management and staff supervision required; six (6) hours in child development or

    early childhood educa8on required; six (6) hours in financial management and budge8ng required

  • Sa8sfac8on of all Georgia DECAL/Bright from the Start standards upon hire and throughout employment
