JOB TITLE: Executive Director of Operations & Finance

REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Full Time

HOURS: Works on average 40 hours per week.  The staff person is expected to be flexible and to work based upon the needs of the Church.  Evening or Sundays may be necessary.

MINISTRY AREA: Office & Administration

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Executive Director of Operations & Finance leads and directs the Christ United Methodist Church Staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directs and oversees the current and future non-clergy administrative staff.

  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing all the Church policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for all Human Resource activities relating to the church staff.

  • Management of the CUMC health care program.  Responsible for researching and negotiating annual renewals.

  • Oversee any workman’s comp audits.

  • Serve as a member of the Finance committee and Church Council.

  • Review monthly financials prepared by the staff accountant.

  • Attend and present, as needed, at monthly Finance Committee meetings and every other month Church Council meeting.

  • Attend the monthly Trustees meeting.

  • Direct the weekly CUMC staff meeting.

  • Collaborates with accounting staff to draft and implement the monthly P&L, balance sheet reports and the annual administrative budget.

  • Oversee and assist in preparing CUMC spreadsheet reports.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have:

  • Thorough understanding of all record keeping systems MIS and related protocol used in the church.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field required.

  • At least 3 - 5 years experience in administration, including three years in a supervisory capacity.

Additional qualifications as determined by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
