POSITION:  Director of Children and Youth Ministries

REPORTS TO:  Pastor and Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee

JOB CLASSIFICATION:  Full time 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  The goal of Triplett UMC is to create a caring and magnetic educational ministry of such excellence that members of the church will participate and others in the community will be drawn to our church, particularly because of our dedication to children and youth ministries.  The Director can contribute to this goal being a person with high commitment to building relations, enhancing morale and self-esteem and modeling Christ in temperament, morality, integrity, and loyalty to the staff, church leadership and the church itself as an employer.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates Sunday School for all age levels through the recruitment and training of teachers.  Order curriculum and supplies,  keep accurate rolls of attendance, serve as a resource support person and teach when necessary

  • Secure and coordinate nursery schedules of volunteers and teach when necessary. Arrange for coverage during special worship services and events.

  • Coordinate children’s time during the worship service

  • Develop and carry out a fellowship ministry for children preschool - 5th grade, such as Wednesday night children’s time, VBS, Easter Egg Hunt, Breakfast with Santa, Trunk or Treat and Fall Festival

  • Schedule and plan all events for Triplett Youth which meet on Sunday evenings, examples include mission trips, community service, confirmation classes and graduate’s luncheon

  • Provide leadership and resources to the Golden Trippers adult ministry

  • Maintain bulletin boards and Tripletter updates

  • Work with missions: Operations Christmas Child boxes, Christmas Angel Tree, Baby Bottles, Food Pantry

  • Provide safe sanctuary yearly training and background checks

  • Attends all staff meetings

  • Responsible for performing other duties as required by the pastor and/or SPPRC

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Required. High school diploma  with 3-5 yrs of related work experience. Preferred. Degree or experience in Christian Education ( or similar background) and familiarity with the United Methodist Church.

SALARY: Negotiable
