Director of Music

Salary: $20,000.00-$30,000.00 (Depending on Experience)

The Director of Music Ministry supports, fosters, and coordinates the overall music worship activities within the church. This individual provides leadership and opportunities for growth, while organizing and managing a diverse music ministry in both traditional and non-traditional settings. The position reports to the Pastor and to the Staff Parish Relations Committee. 


  • Meet regularly with the Pastor and other staff to plan and coordinate regular worship and other special services
  • Review, select, and oversee the purchase of new music appropriate to the ability of the choirs and the Praise Band, while maintaining and continuing to develop Woodmont's music/choral library
  • Serve on the Worship Committee and Church Council to offer input on music budget and programming for worship services and related activities 
  • Develop and maintain the budget for all music activities 
  • Prepare and study selected music to understand its theological and artistic implications 
  • Engage, employ, and direct instrumental musicians as appropriate
  • Attend relevant conferences and conventions of professional organizations as the budget allows 
  • Conduct rehearsals
  • Supervise activities of choirs, the Contemporary Music Leader, and paid non-Woodmont musicians 
  • Coordinate the music for the Office Manager 
  • Develop and oversee new choirs and musical groups as needed, with emphasis on youth and children 
  • Coordinate the maintenance of all musical instruments 
  • Arrange for substitute musicians as needed
