POSITION: Director of Youth Ministry
REPORTS TO: Associate Pastor of Grow Ministries
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Salaried (Exempt); Full-Time
HOURS: The schedule will vary from week to week. The Director of Youth Ministry is expected to be flexible and to plan each work week based upon the needs of the church and those of the Growth Ministries Developer and staff and to meet the job's responsibilities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Youth Ministry oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of discipleship pathways and ministry and outreach opportunities for youth to be encouraged and equipped to use their God-given gifts to Change lives and change the world through Jesus Christ.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Discipleship
o Ensure that curriculum and other program-related materials follow United Methodist theological standards and use such materials to equip adult youth ministry leaders and volunteers
o Recruit and equip youth ministry volunteers
o Develop and implement youth discipleship programming (6th – 12th grade)
o Develop and implement college discipleship programming
o Oversee young adult ministry (19 – 32-year-olds without children)
o Coordinate and implement spiritual formation retreats throughout the year.
o Develop and implement Confirmation classes (7th grade)
Engagement
o Support and encourage youth and parents by attending local community and sports events that they are involved in
o Maintain relationships with former WCUMC youth participants while in college – including periodic visits to colleges (virtually and in-person)
Missions
o Organize and implement youth mission projects and trips (local and national)
o Recruit and equip adult mission trip leaders
Administrative
o Create and maintain a healthy youth ministry budget
o Maintain communication with parents, the congregation, and the community with information regarding youth ministry events and programming
o Further develop youth ministry skills through reading, conferences, and continuing education.
o Represent youth ministry on the Administrative Board and Grow Council.
o Recruit and equip members of the Youth Council and facilitate meetings
o Maintain ministry under the guidelines of the church's Safe Sanctuary policy.
o Develop and maintain professional and spiritual relationships with other staff.
o Other duties as assigned or projects as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
5+ Years of Experience in Youth Ministry (preferred) Understanding of Methodist Theology and how it relates to Youth Ministry
An additional consideration is given to those with the following skills – including, but not limited to:

o Plays a musical instrument and/or sings
