Director of Youth Ministry

Home Moravian Church seeks a part-time Director of Youth Ministry.  We are looking specifically for commitment to engage youth (grades 6-12) in discipleship, worship, mission, fellowship, social action, reflection, and building relationships. 
 
The Director of Youth Ministry will foster engagement through weekly Sunday and Wednesday gathering opportunities, in addition to various trips, camps, mission projects, and special events that promote the mission and vision of Home Moravian Church.
 
In coordination with the Youth Ministry Team and other volunteers from the congregation, the Director of Youth Ministry will maintain the following additional responsibilities: 

  • develop and train volunteers to lead and serve effectively with youth
  • plan programming to meet engagement goals
  • connect with youth to deepen their relationship with God and forge strong bonds with leaders, with each other, and the congregation
  • work with the Youth Ministry Team to develop and manage the youth budget
  • provide rising youth with opportunities to feel welcome
  • build relationships with the larger church community, including other Moravian Churches
  • attend to other tasks related to youth ministry
  • comply with all requirements and guidelines of the Home Church employee handbook, Child Protection Policy, and photo permission procedures
Time commitment: 20 hours a week on average.  Approximately half of the time will be spent in direct engagement opportunities with youth.  The remaining hours will be spent planning and working with the Youth Ministry Team and volunteers.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Arts degree (any field)
  • minimum 23 years of age
  • experience leading and organizing students in a ministry setting
  • theology and practice consistent with the teachings of the Moravian Church
  • exemplary Christian model through teaching, discipling, and generosity
Compensation: $20/hour
