Director of Contemporary Worship
10 – 12 hours per week
Contemporary Worship Summary: Oversees the design, development, and implementation of the entire worship experience within the church for the Sunday contemporary worship service.
WORSHIP
- Offers complete support and trust to entire church staff promoting an environment of “oneness” – all working together towards the same ultimate goal of life transformation through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Sets the playlist each week under the supervision of and in collaboration with the senior pastor
- Schedule and lead weekly praise band practice
- Led worship on Sunday mornings
- Provides opportunities for other to lead and co-lead worship
- Outlines, as best as possible, each set list of a series going into the first week of the series
- Updates worship environment to maintain a contemporary, safe, and inviting worship space
- Updates and maintains a hospitable lobby and gathering space for worship attendees to experience community and fellowship
- Orders and picks up donuts for fellowship breakfast or recruits a volunteer to oversee the breakfast
- Participates in creative arts meetings on a weekly basis to contribute and lend insight concerning music, graphics, videos, and sermons
- Maintains and assists with sound equipment in collaboration with the Sound Tech
- Identifies, recruits, trains, and retains volunteers for worship team ensuring adequate depth and training in all key areas
- Schedules and leads the weekly Youth Praise Band practice
- Identifies, recruits, trains, and retains volunteers for the Youth worship team ensuring adequate depth and training in all key areas
- Works with the senior pastor to develop a budget for the contemporary service and manages program to ensure spending stays within budget
- Coordinates and leads alternative worship experiences, including: outdoor service, sunrise service, and Cross Walk
- Other duties as assigned
CONTINUING EDUCATION
- Attends annually a Worship conference to gain inspiration and encouragement for developing relevant programs
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
- High school graduate
- Attended at least two years of college
- Strong commitment to excellence and sold out to the mission, purpose, and vision of CFUMC and the UMC Discipline
- Genuine and contagious heart for God
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent public relations demeanor
- Positive can-do attitude
- Detail oriented
- Ability to be strategic and prioritize personal duties along with the duties of the volunteer staff with confidence and very limited guidance
- Ability to work under tight time frames in stressful situations
- Satisfy requirements of Safe Sanctuary certification
- Experience with leading a contemporary worship service
