Congregational and Community Youth Director

Sylva First UMC is seeking a full-time Youth Director to work with students in the church and in the community by:

Developing a ministry for grades 6-12 that invites and encourages youth to experience Christ through worship, education, service, relationships, and personal spiritual disciplines (20-28 hours/week).
Working under the direction of HIGHTS to create and lead an afterschool program for vulnerable youth, hosted at Sylva FUMC (12-20 hours/week).

Qualified candidates will have: a love for Christ and a special calling to teenagers; strong relationship building skills; the ability to recruit and lead volunteers; the humility and work ethic to work as a team and under the direction of others.
