District Administrative Assistant - Smoky Mountain District

The Smoky Mountain District of Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church is seeking candidates for the position of District Administrative Assistant. This position reports directly to the District Superintendent of the Smoky Mountain District, and would be located at 125 Lakeshore Drive, Lake Junaluska, NC. This is full-time, non-exempt position.
The purpose of this position is to support the District Superintendent as he/she both resources the mission and ministry of the churches within that district and will foster a relationship with clergy and candidates associated with the district.
Specific duties will include: preparing correspondence, scheduling appointments and maintaining schedule to include fall Charge Conferences, preparing electronic mailing to pastors, assist in compiling and maintaining spreadsheet pertaining to moving or retiring clergy, prepare and maintain lists of annual conference members and general office duties (full Job Description available upon request).
A demonstrated ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism in all matters is required. Preferred candidates will be an active member of a United Methodist Church, with knowledge of the doctrine, polity and structure of the church, and a willingness to support it structure, vision and mission. The candidate selected will exhibit excellent communication skills – written, verbal and listening – as well as a proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint. An Associate Degree is preferred, with 5-7 years of progressively responsible administrative experience is required.
