Conference Archival Assistant


The Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church has an immediate need for a part-time Archival Assistant.  This position will support the Conference Archivist in providing churches and individuals with historical information, sorting and storing information on churches and clergy of the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church.  The Archival Assistant will work 7 hours per week, and the position will be located on the campus of Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, NC.

Along with the Archivist, this position will receive requests for information by mail, e-mail, phone, and in-person, completing research required to answer questions.  Strong computer skills will be required to enter information into database and files in Access, Excel and Word, maintaining up to date hard copy files on current churches, church closures and clergy (particularly those who are deceased). 
The person filling this position is required to have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with a bachelor’s degree preferred.  It is essential that the Archival Assistant have a working knowledge of the United Methodist Church and its history.  Library skills, clerical skills, and computer skills will all be essential in performing the duties of this position.
